Referrals? We’ve been through so many people who’d been recommend by people we respected and trusted. What a nightmare.
Here’s what we learned:
- Even though the person has been referred, ask for recent clients AND make sure you call them. You’d be surprised at how many people have been recommended and they turned out to be a piece of work. Life throws you challenges and people who were once good are not duds.
- Start the new business off right. Trust no one. Don’t be fooled by the smile.
- If you are asked for a deposit, give up as little as possible. Let the person prove themselves to you.
